THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF LOVE!!!

by Dimitrios Toris on Thursday, 14 February 2013

The kinds of love are determined by the Greek words of Storge, Eros, Philia and Agape. And here's what they mean:
Storge usually refers to familial love. It is evident, for example, in the warm affection that parents have toward their children. A deep and abiding affection. Storge love is often described as a comfortable old shoe relationship comprised of natural affection and a sense of belonging to each other. Storge love represents a safe haven for couples as it is a place of acceptance, mutual respect and shelter. Many couple dwell in storge love for years and misunderstand it as mundane or boring. But in effect it is a very safe place but can simply lack that spark we seek. It can also allow the other types of loves to dwell and flourish. Storge love can co-exist with other types of love and can be likened to a foundation made up of trust and safety.
Eros is the desire to draw out all that is good, beautiful and true. It is motivated by need. It's often understood to refer primarily to sex, but that's really only one part of it - albeit a significant part. Eros involves the emotional need to elicit physical love and affection ("beautiful expression" in general) from the one you love. In most contexts, this involves a romantic kind of love. Sadly, our society has cheapened this type of love - and it seems to be the only kind of love that's celebrated in our entertainment culture. (And frankly it's only "celebrated" in a one-dimensional and often exploitative manner). For a biblical picture of erotic love, you need go no further than the Song of Solomon.
Philia is Friendship Love. This love cherishes and has tender affection for the beloved but it needs a response. It is a love of relationship, comradeship, sharing, communication and friendship. Philia makes a close companionship that is all trusting. It makes us share each other’s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, plans, dreams, the most intimate secrets, fears and needs that we would not share with another. We find it between all kinds of people and even between people and animals. It is a special love that has no demands or conditions. Philia is the kind of bond seen in Scripture between David and Jonathan while Saul was trying to kill David in a jealous rage. Philia is the embodiment of everything a true, meaningful friendship represents. It is not sexual in nature, though (in the right circumstance) it can lead to or complement Eros between people of different sex.

Agape love is Elyon Yeshua's Divine love, the perfect love. It is the love that is willing to go so far as to give up ones' life for another. In Exodus 32, Moses confronts God and asks forgiveness for the people of Israel. God refuses, at first, to forgive them, but allows that no penalty or sin is on Moses' head. Moses isn't satisfied, and casts his fate with those of the people. If God won't forgive the people of Israel, then Moses wants to be punished along with them. . But it is, in fact, only a picture of what Yeshua did on the cross for our sins. Selfless, sacrificial love - in which nothing is asked in return. Yeshua's is the Greatest Love of all and the Perfect Love because is pure spiritual, includes all that is good in all the other loves and it is accomplishment of Yahweh Elyon’s will .THAT is Agape Love. This is the kind of love that everyone should pursue. Only by receiving theMighty Holy Ghost, someone would be able to genuinely demonstrate agape-type godly love, serving others throughout his lifetime and being able for the ultimate sacrifice.

True love, as explained in the Bible, isn't focused on oneself and one's feelings or emotions, but is instead outwardly focused on others, wanting to best serve and care for them. True love is beautifully described in

1 Corinthians 13:4-8: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails"
Much appreciation, gratitude and respect to our beloved brother Joseph Rising Sun Levi, Yahweh Elyon's Seer Prophet, for always encouraging and motivating us to education!!!
